Takes the Cake December 29, 2008 Cake Mania: Baker's Challenge is a perfect game for the PSP. It's easy to learn, easy to pick up and put down, and very involving.
It's also a great value: there are three different versions of the game here, the original Cake Mania, Back to the Bakery, and Baker's Challenge. Each offers slightly different baking equipment or play mechanics to keep things interesting.
And keeping things interesting is what Cake Mania does well, with the ability to earn money and buy new equipment to bake faster or keep customers happier while they wait. Throw in oddball customers who pose unique challenges -- you want to serve Dracula as quickly as possible before he spooks your other customers -- and you have a recipe for hours of fun.
A most welcome addition to the PSP library!
Good, but buggy November 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's the same game you can download on your PC or play on many flash sites (which is why i got it, i love those games).
I do find it more challenging with the psp controls, however i have noticed one annoying bug. often, when you chain commands you will lose the cursor when you try to frost a cake. you'll end up clicking on the froster several times to get your cursor back. it just kills your speed. i really wish they'd push out a patch for this.
Great handheld game August 20, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great version of the classic Cake Mania game, perfect for the PSP. Not only does it include Back to the bakery (which used to be an extra purchase) but it now includes a "sandbox" mode where you can define everything in the level and test your skills. The best thing though is the new Bakers Challenge mode. This is a manic mode where you must try and last as long (and score as high) as possible. The controls are great. I prefer the "arcade" style of control but both work really well. A great buy.
